Estate Appraisals — Free, at Your Home or Ours
★★★★★ Rated 4.9 stars from 1,022 Google reviews
Settling a family estate is hard enough. LBC Pawn appraises artwork and antiques for estates — free, including house calls — and when you are ready to sell, we buy whole estates outright and pay cash the same day. No auction calendar, no commissions, no months of waiting.
Free Estate Appraisals — We Come to the House
Your estate is appraised by a veteran certified antiques appraiser — formerly the owner of Bayles Auctioneering and Services, now an appraiser with Kaminski Auctions — or by Michael himself, our antiques and fine-art appraiser. That is decades of auction-room experience, brought to your door.
We walk the home with you and look through the estate where it sits: paintings and prints, sculpture, sterling silver, furniture, porcelain, bronzes and decorative arts. You get honest numbers and straight explanations — what is valuable, what is not, and why. And if the estate needs it for the paperwork, we provide signed written appraisal documents for insurance and estate purposes, the same documents described on our Layaway & Appraisals page.
We Buy Estates Outright — Cash, Paid the Same Day
Here is the choice, plainly. Send an estate to auction and it gets photographed, cataloged and sold weeks or months from now — and the auction house takes its commissions off the top before you see a dollar. Or call us: one visit, one fair number for the whole estate, and cash paid the same day.
Take the offer for everything, or sell only the pieces you choose — your call, and no pressure either way. Estates, executors and attorneys welcome: if a relative has passed and you are settling their home, we will make this part easy.
How to Start — Send Us Pictures
Settling an estate through a lawyer or as an executor? Send the photos the same way — we are happy to work with executors and attorneys, and everything can be put in writing.
Where We Make House Calls
We appraise estates across Greater Boston — with a special welcome to the neighborhoods around our Commonwealth Avenue shop: Newton, Brookline, Waban, Copley and Back Bay. A little further out? Ask us — text 857-867-6468 and we will tell you straight whether we can make the trip.
Skip the drive-first guesswork. Text a photo of your item to 857-867-6468 and get a ballpark before you come. Prefer to talk? Call the same number during shop hours.
Questions we hear
- Is the estate appraisal really free?
- Yes — estate appraisals for artwork and antiques are free, including the house call. Deciding whether to sell is a separate conversation, and there is never any pressure either way.
- Who does the appraisal?
- A veteran certified antiques appraiser — formerly the owner of Bayles Auctioneering and Services, now an appraiser with Kaminski Auctions — or Michael himself, who appraises antiques and fine art. Jewelry appraisals are handled by our GIA-certified appraiser.
- Do I have to sell after the appraisal?
- No. Many families appraise first for the estate paperwork and decide about selling later — or not at all. The appraisal is free regardless.
- How is selling to you different from sending the estate to auction?
- An auction house photographs and catalogs your estate, sells it weeks or months later, and takes its commissions off the top. We do the opposite: one visit, one fair number for the whole estate, and cash paid the same day — no waiting, no commission.
- What should I send first?
- Photos — the house room by room, plus close-ups of the antiques and artwork you think are valuable. Text them to 857-867-6468 or email them to toshenterprisesllc@gmail.com, and we will review them and arrange your free visit.
- Can you put the appraisal in writing?
- Yes — signed written appraisal documents for insurance and estate purposes, with full descriptions, photographs and the appraised value, the same documents described on our Layaway & Appraisals page.
