About Brighton
Brighton runs along Washington Street and Market Street from Oak Square down to Brighton Center, with the Green Line B branch rolling up Commonwealth Avenue past Boston College. It's a neighborhood of triple-deckers, young professionals, and families who have been here for generations — the kind of place where people inherit a parent's gold watch or a box of silver coins and want a straight, local answer on what it's worth instead of a sales pitch.
Pawn Shop at LBC Pawn — how we work
Here is how it works. Bring your item and a valid photo ID. We test and weigh gold and silver in front of you, check coins against current market prices, and explain exactly how we got to our number. If you sell, you leave with cash the same visit. If you would rather borrow, your item is stored securely as collateral and you get it back when the loan is repaid — loans run up to four months and can be renewed by paying the interest due.
What do we take? Gold jewelry in any condition, sterling silver, U.S. and world coins and vintage currency, Rolex and other luxury watches, diamond jewelry, designer handbags, electronics, and a long list of antiques and collectibles — from Tiffany lamps to graded sports cards. If you are not sure an item qualifies, text us a photo first and we will tell you straight whether it is worth the trip from Brighton.
What we buy & lend on
Beyond gold, coins, watches, and jewelry, our antiques department buys across these categories — see the full Antiques & Collectibles page for the complete list:

- Modern & Pop Art
- Tiffany Lamps, Windows & Fine Glass
- Fabergé & Russian Works
- Jewelry Houses & Sterling Silver
- Asian Art

What a loan costs — in plain numbers
| If you borrow | After month 1 | After month 2 | After month 3 | After month 4 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $100 | $111 | $114 | $117 | $120 |
That first month includes the one-time 8% charge; after that it is a flat 3% per month. No hidden fees, no surprises — the full cost is printed on your ticket.
*Pawn loans: 3% per month interest plus a one-time 8% charge in the first month only. Example: a $100 loan costs $111 after month 1, $114 after month 2, $117 after month 3 and $120 after month 4. Loans run up to 4 months and may be renewed by paying the interest due. Borrowers must be 18 or older with valid photo ID. Items not redeemed by the end of the loan term may be sold as allowed by Massachusetts law.

Questions we hear
- Do I need good credit to get a pawn loan?
- No. A pawn loan is based on the value of your item, not your credit history. There is no credit check and nothing is reported to any credit bureau — if the loan is not repaid, we simply keep and sell the item, as Massachusetts law allows.
- How much can I borrow?
- It depends on the item's resale value. Gold, coins, fine watches, and diamond jewelry support the largest loans. Text us a photo at 857-867-6468 for a ballpark before you come in.
- What do I need to bring?
- Your item and a valid government-issued photo ID. Borrowers and sellers must be 18 or older.
- Can I renew my loan?
- Yes. Loans run up to four months and may be renewed by paying the interest due, so you never have to lose an item over one tight month.
- Can I pay to renew or pick up my pawn with a card?
- You can extend (renew) your loan with a credit or debit card only through the MobilePawn app — you cannot extend in the store with a card. Pickup day is cash only: redeeming and picking up your item must be paid in cash. Need cash for your pickup? Our in-store ATM charges just $2 per transaction.
- Do you buy Bitcoin or other crypto?
- Yes — we buy Bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies listed on Coinbase at 90% of market value, with the rate confirmed at the time of your transaction, and cash in hand if you want it. There's also a Bitcoin ATM right here in the shop for buying and selling Bitcoin.
