About Cambridge
Cambridge is just across the Charles River from us — Harvard Square, Central Square, Inman, and Kendall, strung along Massachusetts Avenue and the Red Line. Between Harvard and MIT, the city cycles through thousands of students, researchers, and tech workers every year, alongside old Cambridge families in the big houses off Brattle Street. Gold, vintage watches, coins, and instruments surface here constantly, and Cambridge sellers tend to do their homework — which is fine by us, because our numbers hold up to comparison.
Coin Dealer at LBC Pawn — how we work
Inherited a collection you know nothing about? That is our most common coin customer. Bring the whole box — binders, rolls, tubes, and all — and we will go through it piece by piece, separating the key dates and silver and gold content from the common material, and show you how each part is priced. Pre-1965 U.S. silver coins, Morgan and Peace dollars, gold eagles and pre-1933 gold, early copper, and graded coins all carry real premiums, and we pay for them.
We also buy vintage currency — large-size U.S. notes, silver certificates, and foreign paper money — and we handle coins for estates across Greater Boston. Prefer to keep your collection? Coins make strong collateral for a pawn loan at 3% per month.* From Cambridge, the simplest start is a text: send photos of the fronts and backs of a few key pieces to 857-867-6468 and we will tell you what to bring in.
What a loan costs — in plain numbers
| If you borrow | After month 1 | After month 2 | After month 3 | After month 4 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $100 | $111 | $114 | $117 | $120 |
That first month includes the one-time 8% charge; after that it is a flat 3% per month. No hidden fees, no surprises — the full cost is printed on your ticket.
*Pawn loans: 3% per month interest plus a one-time 8% charge in the first month only. Example: a $100 loan costs $111 after month 1, $114 after month 2, $117 after month 3 and $120 after month 4. Loans run up to 4 months and may be renewed by paying the interest due. Borrowers must be 18 or older with valid photo ID. Items not redeemed by the end of the loan term may be sold as allowed by Massachusetts law.
Skip the drive-first guesswork. Text a photo of your item to 857-867-6468 and get a ballpark before you come from Cambridge. Prefer to talk? Call the same number during shop hours.
Questions we hear
- Do you buy whole collections and estates?
- Yes — collections and inherited estates are our specialty. Bring everything, including the common material; we sort it in front of you and price each part against the current market.
- Which coins are worth the most?
- Gold coins, pre-1933 U.S. gold, key-date Morgan and Peace dollars, pre-1965 silver coinage, early type coins, and professionally graded pieces usually carry the strongest premiums. Condition matters enormously, so never clean a coin — cleaning destroys collector value.
- Do you buy foreign coins and paper money?
- Yes. We buy world coins and vintage currency, American and foreign, including silver and gold foreign issues and large-size U.S. notes.
- Should I clean my coins before bringing them in?
- Never. Cleaning, polishing, or dipping a coin can cut its collector value dramatically. Bring coins exactly as you found them and let us evaluate the original surfaces.
